Hornsea Town vs Reality Solutions FC
Yorkie gets a brace, Cade returns, Cane hits a screamer and Greensides gives a man of the match performance in goal as Town come from behind to win 3 on the trot and sit one point outside the top 4!
AND IT WAS LIVEEEEE From Noddle Hill!
This week saw Hornsea travel into Hull to take on Reality Solutions FC in a crucial game where 3 points would make a massive difference to both teams. Town who are coming off the back of two impressive wins looked to continue winning ways whilst the home team looked to pick up points and get back in the race for a top 4 finish. Hornsea welcomed back vice captain Mike Cade and midfielder Ohio Longley-Froud to full fitness along with goalie James Greensides who is yet to lose a game whilst keeping net for Towns Sunday Team. They lined up with Greensides in goal, a back four of Limb, Cade, Ashbridge and Baines. A middle five of Baldwin, Longley-Froud and Codd with Stathers and Revell as the wide men. Captain Adam Yorke was the lone Striking outlet up top. High, Cane and an extremely poorly Warmold made up this weeks bench. Muddy conditions made it tough for both teams but it was the home side that took first blood, playing the long ball to the corner that was crossed into the box and turned in. It’s took Hornsea just 15 minutes to get control of the game and equalise after a Greensides goal kick was brought down by Longley-Froud and then good work from Codd meant he could pick out Baldwin who drove towards the edge of the 18 yard box and flashed the ball low and hard across the box where Yorke was waiting to turn it in.
Half time 1-1
At half time Town introduced Matty High to the midfield to try and add some extra height. As Hornsea grew into the game they finally started to use the wings and get the ball out wide allowing Revell and Stathers to open their legs and run at the full backs. Longley-Froud thundered the ball towards goal but it looked to be going wide, until Stathers busted a gut to get to the back post and turn it in putting Town into the lead at 2-1. From the re start the home side found themselves with a shooting opportunity that looked to be a certain goal until Greensides made a diving fingertip save to his left to put it past the post for a corner. Cane was now introduced to the right wing with Stathers coming inside to play central midfield. As Town played out from the back, Limb released Revell who carried the ball up pitch and crossed to Stathers, who set up Cane for an 18 yard volley into the top corner. An excellent piece of football!!
Town now looking in complete control of the game peppered the home teams keeper with shots, some of which he saved and some went missing as Towns strikers slipped in the mud. A shot on goal was parried into the path of Yorke who made sure of the 3 points by smashing home making it 4-1 with 6 minutes to play. Towns defence who had been solid for the most part of the game were caught out through a blip from the referee who had had a pretty decent game to be fair. A long ball over the top found a home striker who was miles off side but the whistle never went. With Town playing a high line he had time to slot home for a consolation goal. With the last kick of the game and possibly the 15th defensive corner for Town a goal mouth scramble ensued before a shot was again tipped around the post by Greensides topping of an excellent individual performance.
Full time Hornsea 4-2 Reality Solutions FC
Facebook Live caught up with manager Dave Limb who heaped praise on his team especially for how we have improved on defending corners. They have cost us a few games this season but we looked good and strong today. We’ve put ourselves in a great position in the league. Now sitting at 5th and one point from 4th with two games in hand over other teams we can have a really strong finish to the season. Man of the match performances from Stathers, Baldwin, Cade and Ashbridge but this week I have to give it Greensides as without his two top saves we would have drawn the game.
York x2
Stathers x1
Cane x1
MOTM James Greensides
